My 1985 Turbo Coupe

I have been driving my car the last few days back and forth to work as I have my F-150 in the shop right now. I had only put a few clicks on it since I purchased it last fall and I am really pleased with the car. It is not hard to tell by driving it that it was a one owner car as it runs and drives very nice with no rattles and it is very tight. I kind of forgot what it was like to drive one of these as I have only driven my stang that I have owned since 89 and various pick ups over the years. I bought my old 83 TC used in 1988 and always loved the way these cars look. I have to admit that the lack of low end torque kind of sucks but if you keep the engine (as you all know) in the proper rpm range the car is fun to drive. I am going to keep the drivetrain and look for a cool car to install it in one day and use it for commuting to work as gas is getting very expensive here in Canada. I live in a very oil rich area and regular gas here right now is 1.28 per liter which is pretty much the lowest in Canada. Today I put in $40.00 of 91 octane and it was 1.37/liter. Figure the equation compared to an American gallon, well it is way over what you guys pay. 3.8 liters equals 1 gallon and it is the cheapest here where I am.
Anyways after driving the car for the past few days I took it out and washed it for the first time since I have owned it as it sat in a heated garage that I rent over the winter. I live in a condo and have a parking spot under a carport and that's where I took the pics...
The car has 130k original kilometers and it is all as new except for a fmic.

I have posted in the general discussion area about the motor I had built for this car, she is destined for a major retro fit/build and I will start another thread of the build on this site. I just wanted to show everybody how nice of a car this is and yes that is the original paint. I do have somewhere on this laptop an appraisal from the original owner that he needed for his classic car insurance.

Just my $.02 I would modify the car to make the power you are looking for...unless you want to go really big(which I did to my 86 XR7)....nice ride.

Congrats on your purchase. It looks like you snagged a real nice one.
I can understand the desire for the engine transplant, but being a diehard TC/XR-7 turbo fan, my thoughts on tweaking the existing drivetrain mirror that of Travis'.  :)

The fog lamp covers:
Not sure if you normally leave them on when parked, but it would make me a bit nervous to do so knowing how easily they can be removed by a thief who knows what a set of them can sell for in good condition.

I'm just happy to see thundercats on the road...turbocoupes just look so good IMHO.

But if the man wants lots of low end torque... Go big or go home.

To each there own...

Thanks for the comments everybody.
I do have another set of fog lights with covers in the trunk that came with the car....
Most people around here where I live really would not have a clue about them and like I say I am only driving it for a short time while I have some work done on my truck, not to worried about them getting stolen. When the original owner first bought this car he also ordered these from Ford. They have been kept in filer folders since then and are mint

Here is a copy of the last appraisal the owner had done in 2010, he only drove it about 1000 kilometers over the time before I bought it. The guy was older than me and I am an old fart! He had a factory five cobra on a lift above the Turbo Coupe in his 3 cat garage with a Beamer on both sides. He asked his kids of any of them would like to have the car and none of them were interested! I never thought I would find one like this for sale in Canada and thought I would have to purchase one in California. I smudged out his information but it is all legit.

I am only posting this information so it might be helpful to somebody else. I do not think these cars will ever really rise in value but I really think the 4 eyed Turbo Coupe is one of the most beautiful cars Ford has ever made and I am going to make mine into what I want it to be. Hell, I am 50 been there done that and I guess this is my definition of a mid life crisis!

Oh in case if anybody ever wonders why Pro SC? I used to do ceramic and powdercoating and it has been my handle on a lot of other forums over the years. I joined this one because of my car. I still have my website up if you ever want to see pics of work I have done, and no I do not do it anymore but would always be willing to answer any questions to help people out.
