XXXwe found that the inside dew wipe up near the mirror is trimmed much differently than the driver side in that the interior dew wipe itself has a pointed end that gets caught up inside the window track.
this reduces the amount of room the window has to "fill" the track itself.

Iver had your window seem kinda hard to go up or down at the mid way point?

we found this (see pics) of a pointed section of the dew wipe getting in between the window and the track adding friction.

wonder if this is a primary reason for most our "off the track" and "came un glued" window problems.

again, interior dew wipe is trimmed and engineered correctly (in this birds case).

Every one of mine that have had issues was due to the window channel being bent or otherwise mucked up roughly behind where the speaker sits. On my white '88, the whole channel had fell off. I bought the car when it was cold. Soon as it warmed up and I rolled down the window....well, at least I had another lower channel piece to bolt back in there...

Thanks, I'll have to look at mine. My passenger window has gone off the track about 9,000 times.

Mine works smoothly and it hasn't been touched since it left the factory :dunno:.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

Can anyone confirm if this fix does the trick? I've been busy fixing brakes and trac-loks and haven't had a chance to try this yet. Then its on to the leaky trunk,etc......thanks jcassity for the DIY info. Without this I might as well just get a stang.

Jay show a better photo of what you are talking about. First thing we do is make sure the glass does not bind in the track anywhere. And fix anything that hampers that. The wiper welting must fit perfectly and sometimes rust and crud builds up under the tracks that has to be addressed. By the way window retaining clips separate from not enough surface area for clamping. I have a permanent fix for that that i posted a while back. Also trying to put the window down when the glass is frozen to the welting is a definite killer for separation.

there are two pictures time stamped as "3:42pm"
these two pics illustrate the interior dew wipe area of concern.

the picture time stamped as 3:45pm shows where we trimmed the interior dew wipe just enough so it is not getting up inside the window track area.
