Deep scratch touch up May 10, 2013, 10:06:47 PM I ended up scratching our Van pretty bad and deep while I was loading something heavy by myself. I havent had to deal with "surgical" scratch touch up before as the paint isnt so great on my project cars to begin with, So I just sand out and fill/primer.Any ideas on how to tackle this? This doesnt have to be perfect but would like it to look better.Scratch is down to the metal, And I can stick my fingernail in it. About 1-1/2-2inches long (Curled, Not straight) and wide. Vehicle has clearcoat.I've been watching videos and reading so many varying things online...What seemed like it might work is filling the scratch with something (Not sure what exactly, Bondo?) letting it dry then gently using lacquer thinner? to whipe and remove the excess only leaving the filled in area. Then, Fine brush and (GM #56) Paint. And probably clearcoat on top.Thoughts?Again, this doesnt have to be perfect, Just less noticeable at least.Ugh this looks awful, And yes... The Van needs a good wash also: Quote Selected
