You Have WON!!!!!

A local new business--a large used car dealership (replacing a failed new car dealership in that spot) has sent an enticement labeled "resident" in the local mail.  Part of the info is pictured here.  The dealership is located in the "ritzy" part of town and I do not know how widespread their mailings were.  The Mrs. brought this to my attention on Saturday and she acted "Surprised" for us.  After looking at the fine print, I told her she most definitely won $2 as those odds were shown as 250,000/ 250,000.  As far as the $100,000 grand prize, the odds are 1/5,000,000.  This one looks appealing due to the little electronic wiz thingy I presume.  These games have been around (I'm sure) forever.  My ages old impression is that if anyone gets the "grand prize"---it has to be a relative of a relative of a relative of the owner (I know I'll get flack for that).  Sorry, I still believe it and always will regardless.

The punch line---as part of my senior transit job--I picked up a woman from the dealership this afternoon.  I have never picked up any customers there recently or ever---first time stop.  Sure enough, the gal babbled on her own as how she went there to get her check for $100,000 as she was sure she won it!!!  She then explained none of the employees there could admit she won anything...  I had a good chuckle to myself as I drove along.  You know what P T Barnum said...    see pics

Advertising companies do these for dealerships. They do have to send out winning numbers for the big prizes. However, the winning number is typically sent to an address in a different part of the country. So let's say a dealership in NJ does one of these, the winning number probably got sent to an address in Oregon. The local winners always get the lowest prize shown on the list, and usually they have to contact the advertising company to get it, and the shipping and handling they have to pay costs more than the prize is worth.

I should have done a better picture job....yes, Thunder Chicken, the cars are Camaros.  My comments may have been harsh.  Marketing is marketing even if it borders on abuse (I could not come up with a better appeasp00get of dealer actions).

The cars in the big pic that wasn't shown in the original post are Camaros. The ones in the little pic to the right of the number are Mustangs, even though it says "His & Her 2013 Chevy Camaros" under them
