How to remove o2 sensor on 1987 5.0-Pass. side? April 06, 2013, 01:07:55 AM Can't get to the o2 on right side exhaust manifold.I can barely see it through all the smog piping. The driver side is installed with a new sensor but the old is still on the pass. side! Will this cause a poor idle when warm (no codes) a new and old sensor?I've been trying to fix a bad idle problem: code 63 TPS = new TPS =no code decent idleMom reports: "runs fine and didn't wanna die at the stop light like before, but died in the garage when she got back as she was going into park" So I don't know if the o2 sensor might be the culprit now and I still need to hook up the orange o2 ground I found unhooked.I post back with any new details or fixes.:hick: Quote Selected
How to remove o2 sensor on 1987 5.0-Pass. side? Reply #1 – April 06, 2013, 01:59:58 AM should be able to stick your had in with a socket and wrench with maybe 1 or 2 extensions and get it loose, it's for sure a pita though and your hands/arms may suffer Quote Selected
How to remove o2 sensor on 1987 5.0-Pass. side? Reply #2 – April 06, 2013, 10:36:21 AM Have you done a base idle reset on the car? I cannot remember if it works on the speed density cars or not but it might be worth a try.http://sbftech.com/index.php/topic,1031.0.htmlDarren Quote Selected
How to remove o2 sensor on 1987 5.0-Pass. side? Reply #3 – April 06, 2013, 12:45:12 PM The best way to get it out is to remove the smog tubing(comes off with a few screws) just unscrew the clamp at the smog pump then unclamp it at the exhaust line and header line and it comes right out. Then from there get maybe an open end wrench and heat the o2 up and it should come out. The only way I could get mine out was to remove the header Quote Selected
How to remove o2 sensor on 1987 5.0-Pass. side? Reply #4 – April 06, 2013, 12:55:46 PM The O2's wouldn't have any effect on idle, or WOT situations..I think Aerocoupe is steering you on the right path...idle reset.. Quote Selected
