Pick & Pull Rant !

I have been trying to find body parts for my 88 LX for sometime now . I go to Calgary pick and pull yesterday and see an 88 lx same color with rust free body . Awsome ! I say to my buddy . Get closer and the fenders and driver door ( the parts I need ) have fresh dents from being manhandled around the yard . These guys using the loaders there are goof balls . And this is not the first time , the last 6 month's I have came upon beat up bodies on tbirds and anything older for that matter . Readers , how do your self serve wreckers compare ?

Around my area, they use loaders and they pick up the car from the bottom. Of course, this usually ruins driveshafts, and fuel lines, etc.

The TC I got my rear and hood from looked like I could have put a battery in it and drove it home. It was in pretty good shape, save for the headliner being pulled down and bent back.

I saw an 83 5.0 bird that looked new all around and had 53k miles written on the quarter panel. Well it looked new except the forklift holes through both doors.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I have never seen a single fox thunderbird or cougar in any pick and pull around here.

They pick them up from the bottom here, and usually don't damage much. The retards who frequent the yards around here usually have the dishonor of tearing up all the nice parts that people could have used. Need a cheap used ATC sensor, but your a lazy asshole? Why not rip the entire dash apart with a claw hammer to get to it! :beatyoass:

I find alot of fox cougars around here, but rarely ever a Bird. Never even seen a Turbo Coupe in a junkyard here. There are still loads of rust-free 60's and 70's classics around to pull body parts from as well, which helps me out quite abit.

They actually hold onto them until they are thoroughly picked over around here. There are so many people in this area right now restoring classic cars, that good parts are starting to not last for long out there. I actually found a nice rust/dent free PS Fender for my '67 Galaxie last month, couldn't believe my luck on that one. 80's+ cars only get around 6 months of yard time before being crushed though, so you gotta be quick to jump on 'em right when they get there. The fox mustang scene is massive here, so anything Fox related gets c00ched up pretty quick here as well.

I got all my parts by putting want ads in the local craigslist.  I found 3 TC's that way.  Paid $800 at the most and made that back on one 5-speed.
