EVP sensor atop the EGR December 16, 2012, 03:32:42 PM Did you know...........that the evp sensor rubber orange seal isnt just a general seal to keep fluids out of the spring loaded diaphram, it also seals the vac chamber. There are two versions i have here in the garage, one that goes on my 5.8L is identical to my 5.0L.The second is the type i had on my 3.8L CFI motor.the 3.8L cfi rubber gasket is huge compared to the tiny little o ring they put on the 5.0L. the 3.8L evp sensor gasket would likely be an upgrade for a better seal as it covers more surface area, however, im just speculating because the gasket itself takes up more room so it may throw off the evp required readings. If the evp is not sealed real well, then your vac pres will be lost. not sure what day of class i missed but this kinda surprised me just now when i looked at it closer.the 5.0L EGR "looks" like its slightly different than the older 3.8L EGR but they both basically function the same, they highly depend on the EVP sensor Oring for proper function. I would have thought the vac chamber would have been isolated from the mechanical chamber that moves the evp rod but the evp rod shares the same chamber with vac.just posting this.. fyi... check yours.
