header clearence problems November 19, 2012, 03:50:22 PM i bought a aftermarket steering shaft from flaming river so it would clear my bbk shorty headers for the 351w swap in a fox body mustang. i tried putting the new shaft on and it made the rubbing worse my car doesnt even turn now. i have the rack and pinion from the v6 models (apeerently its different) but i have v8 model sport coupe does anyone know if i buy the v8 rack will it move the shaft position. and allow more clearence? header clearence problems Reply #1 – November 19, 2012, 04:30:28 PM AFAIK the only difference between a V6 and a V8 rack is the ratio. You might have to tweak a header pipe or two to clear the shaft Quote Selected

header clearence problems Reply #3 – November 19, 2012, 09:14:59 PM Yeah, no difference in the outside dimensions of the racks, 3.8 vs. 5.0....Did you use the Fox Windsor swap headers? Might need to make some "adjustments" with a BFH...? Quote Selected
