i whant your oppinoin guys.....

i went to auto zone the other day to get a new air filter and decided to have them test my engine comp and it gave me 2 codes. code 85 and code 23. code 23 is the tps out of range, and code 85 is low voltage to the canister perge silinoid(sp). so could both of these cause bad gas milage after changing spark plugs and also could this have to do with intermitent stalling?

Did you recently do any motor work that made you remove the TPS?

the only thing i did was disconect the plug but pluged it back in when i saw how mutch work it was to take the throttle body off to get to those injectors to take out the screens in it.

you aught to see where the tps is on the 5.8L,,, SUPERIOR PITA

you can use a chainsaw file to oblong the holes on the tps mounting surface.  this will alow you to install the tps but adjust it cw or ccw to obtain the "less then a volt" on the green wire.

as for the purge canister issue,, sounds like you might wanna check out those solenoids/vent solenoids when you get a chance.  probably have a crack on the vac distrubution or in a line.

would that make you run rich,, i dono, not sure how all that would effect the emisisons but if the map is in the vac loop, it might.  Im just not privy to the details on vac theory and operation.

the TPS could cause bad gas milage... I'd check the vac lines as already suggested, otherwise forget the cannister code as it has no bearing on fuel economy.

You can just drill it out really easily. I would try that first if you have tools. It dosent cost anything. Worst is your out 5 minutes of your time and you have to buy the new one anyways.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
