Just having fun! August 24, 2012, 04:44:34 PM It just took me almost 3 hours to take the two transmission lines off my AOD transmission. All the grease needed to be wiped off, I couldn't see what I was doing even with a light, I don't have a lift, just jacks. I think maybe a gorilla torqued them on. I didn't want to strip them, so I took a few breaks in my sweat soaked shirt to replenish my fluids. Now, it's time to take off the starter.... I just tell myself to take my time and do it right and it will be worth it when it's all done. Later..... Quote Selected
Just having fun! Reply #1 – August 24, 2012, 04:59:05 PM if you have a set of tubing wrenches those work really well for taking the lines loose. Quote Selected

Just having fun! Reply #3 – August 24, 2012, 07:10:03 PM They do work great, we always called them line wrenches though.http://community.craftsman.com/Craftsman-4-pc-Metric-Flare-Nut-Wrench-Set-reviews Quote Selected
Just having fun! Reply #4 – August 24, 2012, 09:01:02 PM Thanks for the information! I just finished taking the starter off.....What a day! My poor starter has always done a great job, probably because of my Optima battery kicking it's little butt. It looks like a ball of grease. It also still has the original Motorcraft label on it. I'm thinking I might just dig a hole out in the back yard and give it a decent burial. Twenty -six years of loyal service.... Quote Selected
