Has anyone taken apart 87-88 taillights Reply #18 – May 25, 2013, 01:43:43 PM Those center lenses still look UV damaged. Is the backup light yellow? That is the part that takes FOREVER to restore. Also some get such bad deterioration on the center lens that the orange becomes a swirl of browns and oranges. Quote Selected
Has anyone taken apart 87-88 taillights Reply #19 – May 25, 2013, 01:53:24 PM I've been using black rtv. Epoxy was my first instinct, but I might want to get back in there someday, and then I thought of clear rtv, but decided that black would look less out of place if someone were to notice. By far the hardest part is using rubbing compound to polish the filter lens, a far second is getting all the dum-dum out of the sealing channel. Remember to re-tention the steel clips so they bite in once you reseal and close the housings. Quote Selected
