Wire Harness Question September 03, 2012, 01:58:21 AM I have a 83 thunderbird V8 car. I am looking for a 90-93 mustang 5.0, 5speed drive train for the car. I have read that I will need the computer and wiring harness from the Mustang. Is that all? I guess I will mount computer somewhere and just give it power and plug in the harness from the engine compartment to it? The original harness I just tuck away somewhere? The interior harness and wiring I don't have to touch? Any other infor would be great, Thanks for help! Quote Selected

The factory gauges in about any '80-'90 vehicle could care less about the computer that operates the engine... Gauges are operated by senders that would need to match the car not engine, just a matter of replacing with the ones from original engine.. Basically a total NON-issue...You'll need to be sure you have the fuel pump wiring and relay, plus you'll need to install a higher output pump in the tank... If it also has a external pump, it can be removed...There will be one wire that feeds the ECM relay(red with green stripe if I remember correctly, also same as battery side of coil), as long as it has switched 12V and all grounds are in place the computer system will operate...
