Comcast or Directv?

Maybe I had a bad install on my Dish. Mine goes out every time it rains pretty hard...not a good feeling when one would like to check the weather channels for current conditions.

Maybe the Directv installers will do a better job? I'm just happy to be getting AMC back and upgrading to HD.

I hope so too. A family member down the street from me had a complete Dish Network package installed on their house a few years ago, and they told me they always had problems with the picture, rain or shine. Their dish was mounted on the roof, while mine's on a pole in the yard...not very pretty but maybe that's the way to go. I don't know. We were 1/4 mile apart, same company, basically the same equipment, same relative line-of-site to the satellites, but I have perfect picture while they had issues. Had to be the installation. (They've since gone over to cable...now they're complaining about the higher prices LOL. Can't win.)

I'm none too happy about the AMC thing, even though I didn't watch it much. I did check out IFC a bit though. And WE...well, let's just say that never showed up in my programming guide LOL. Also, just this past Friday, one of our local stations was dropped from Dish with no warning. Doesn't really affect me, as I can pick that up over the antenna through the HD Dish receivers, but again...that's 2 times in the last week that Dish dropped something on my tier. Not liking that trend. It's the principle of the thing.

I am sure that the company that owns AMC, IFC, etc is being greedy and trying to capitalize on the fact that they have some hit shows right now. However, if I were Dish I would do all I could to play ball with them and keep their programming coming to my customers. Mad Men, The Walking Dead, etc are all big hit shows that people get upset about if they miss just one episode. I know you can download them off itunes, etc but that's just not the same!

There are a TON of mad Dish subscribers right now. I am sure they will have a ton of people cancel and go elsewhere due to this whole clusterf*$k.

For tv, we still have the bundle for tv/internet/phone, but rarely use the tv. Netflix is the way to go. There's enouugh stuff on there that you don't notice it, unless you have to watch all the new episodes.

There are several cable companies out here that are pushing fiber hard, and it will be the way to go when video over ip comes into play. Verizon has all put pulled out of utah because of the utopia project. Comcast has been making major upgrades, but I still son't know of a pure fiber system yet. Quest or "centry link" has an aging system, but can still be pushed to acceptable limits for years to come, but bandwith will be there down fall. You can keep turning the up though.

Sometimes I miss our dish, but when we had dish and comcast for internet, it was more expensive then the bundle with comcast.

Direct TV would now be a mistake. They are dropping 17 channels including SPIKE.

Do these jokers not care about customer satisfaction? The only thing any of these companies are worried about is the almighty dollar!

I will be calling to ask if my bill will now be lower due to the channels I just lost. Most of them I could care less about but a few of them I watch

Actually it's Viacom wanting to charge more, and Direct said go pound sand. I called direct about them losing the channels and they said my contract says Direct has the right to change channels or charges as they see fit. So I am at their mercy.

They are both being Greedy. Viacom asked for more (their contract had not been renewed for 7 years or something) and Direct refused.

They will come to some sort of agreement eventually for more money and the end user will be the one to pay for their greedy tactics.
