Autozone manager suck

So I had to buy some new rear brake pads and rotors from local AUTOZONE for the thunderbird  .I was told on sunday 3/18/2012 they dont stock the rear pads for the disc brake setup .So I just order the rotors  and was told they would be in on monday 3/19/2012 .After I get off work after 10hr day I drive over to my local autozone and try to pick up my parts .The manager yes I said manager was asking me what part I was looking for I respond and say my last name and description of the parts ROTORS .The manager looks the part up by the year and points to the screen  and ask me is this the price I paid .At this point I am confused just get the damm part we go back and forth for a second or two and he ask me do I have my reciept .No no i dont have my reciept I left it in my other car he tells me he cant give the part because he can not prove I paid for it I ask no joke the manager  yeah manager can you look it up he says no I asked again because I am after all the customer and for sure they have the technology to look it up the manager says no I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT . WTF are you kidding me so pissed off I drive across town get my reciept and drive back. Of course I am pissed but not yelling just fustrated by the stupidity
and after dealing with the piss poor attitude. I wanted the managers name off of his name tag and as I was looking at the name tag and writing his name down the manager comes at me in a threating attitude and says if you want my name you have to ask. This guy was a ass what the hell has happened to customer service AUTOZONE needs to train there employees better I am done shopping there not worth the savings and the stupid people behind the counters . I will pay extra for my FOMOCo parts

i've noticed that a lot of AZ's hire people who have no clue about cars, which is a shame.. advance usually has at least 1 knowledgeable person on hand at all times.. don't even get me started on pepboys.. even some of their techs are braindead.. the ONLY time i EVER step foot in pepboys, is when they're having some sort of tire sale.. i pick out the tires i want (customers are allowed to walk through the tire section) and i grab a parts counter employee.. well, the last time i went, the moron argued with me because i told him it didn't matter what car i have, as it doesn't have the stock wheels on it (talking about my cobra r's on my white bird).. so i said 'it's an 87 tbird with 17x9 wheels on the back' and he runs to his computer (almost skipping like a fairy).. he comes back and says 'these tires won't work on your model'.. my response was 'that's funny, because i have the EXACT size on there now and they don't touch, rub, etc etc..' his moron response was (and i wanted to punch him for this) 'your car came with 15's according to the computer.. these tires are for 17's..' at that point i demanded a manager.. when the manager finally surfaced (almost 15 min later, in a nearly empty store!), i told him 'i'm sorry, but that kid should not be working here.. for 1, he's trying to tell me these tires (as i directed him to the pair i wanted) these tires won't fit my car, yet i have that exact size on there now with my 17x9 wheels..' then he tried arguing with me, saying 'they will rub on your car..' i told the manager i was done with the ordeal and that i wanted the tires and i want them now.. he tried giving me more attitude, so i pulled them off the rack myself and went to the register..

moral of the story.. some people really shouldn't be working in auto parts stores.. especially ignorant pen 15s like that

Ha don't even get me started with autozone.  Preordered parts to store using my zip code, which there is an AZ right down the street. My order went to an AZ 20 miles away. After driving there to get my parts, I had on my mind some other things I needed. Didn't notice till I got home I wasn't given the $20 energy susp Swaybar kit I ordered for the bird.:mad::mad:

The AZ local to me called this other location, they tell that they have correct amount in stock insinuating they did give me the part. While it's my fault I didn't make sure all was there, I don't think  I should have to spend an hour or more of my day to run back to this store because they could not read a receipt. I emailed their main customer service hoping to get some help.

I've been trying to get this place to hire me. Do you think if I go in and act like a dumbass that doesn't know anything about cars Auto Zone would hire me then? It seems like that's all I ever see in there lol.

Our local AutoZone has some decent employees that have a general idea of cars and better yet, they want to help you. I generally skip over the new employees and just get one of the mangers to help me, it probably helps that I have been in there so many times that I'm on a first name base with the managers.

I think it is like any retailer, if the employees take pride in their work then the service will be great. But if the employees could care less then you might as well forget about having decent service.

Example the Verizon store closes to me has employees that are flat out idiots that seem to think it is ok to ogle over my wife when we go in there. The Verizon store that is just a couple miles further from home has some very knowledgeable employees that are very helpful and respectful! Still Verizon just better employees.

I'm not sure what AZ pay scale is like?
...and there was light!

i have also tried getting a job there. actually got an interview once. went in, answered every question the manager asked and blew him away with what i knew... he said i was the only person who ever answered every question right in 6 years he had been the manager...

come to find out from talking to current employees, they actually want people who know nothing about cars. their reason for this is that if an employee gives advice on what they think the customers problem is and it doesnt fix the problem, they can turn around and sue autozone because the employee gave them incorrect info.
Currently Birdless but never Foxless

I do have to add. The corporate customer support usually always comes through.

I always have a nice time in my local AZ. Everybody's got horror stories but honestly, other than them giving me the mustang kit instead of the TC kit for my ES swaybar bushings, I have had no problems with them. In fact I was just there the other day and they let me walk right out the door with their $40 pulley puller and work on my car out there, and when I came back and said I needed a 1-1/16" socket that I didn't have, the guy just about bent over backwards trying to find one under the counter to loan me. I do kinda know all the employees by name I'm in there so much, and one guy in there is actually a Tbird/Cougar guy so that's pretty cool. I make very good use of the AZ rewards card. You just can't beat free $20 and its not like they mark price up either, cause I've price checked multiple items against Advance and Pep Boys and AZ is almost always $5 cheaper than Advance, and usually $10 cheaper than Pep Boys, and I'm talking about the EXACT SAME items, from the exact same manufacturer.
