Those Aussie V8 Super cars are awesome!! REAL 4-door cars with a rollcage and racing slicks. They need to bring those here and show 'em how it's done down under.
I'm the odd-man out here but I still like nascar and I go to the chicago race when I can. I don't particularly like the fact that toyota is in it, but $$$ talks.

Now if KIA or Hyundai try to enter........then I stop watching forever. Oh wait....... they don't make a vehicles with V8s

watch out, i bet nissan is next! that right there (if i was a fan) would be enough to make me disown nascar..

and for the record, the last nascar race i ever watched was when earnhardt sr died.. he was my idol (sans the fact that he was a nascar driver) because he didn't take sh*t from anyone

I liked the British touring car series.  I quit liking NASCAR when the Tbird left.

Actually, Nissan is in in discussion to join the V8 Supercar series....

They're really about in the same vein as Cup cars though, tube/steel frames, fiberglass/composite body panels, etc.

The Holden car is a lot bigger than the Aussie Falcon, so they have to make changes to keep them similar. Plus they run 5.0 liter engines...I used to follow the series a few years ago, but pretty well gave up on televised motorsports...

Kia, no.  Hyundai, yes.

NASCAR is becoming spec racing...and I'm not a fan of spec racing. It's all a commercial mess these days anyway.  Not worth the effort to even discuss, it's that dull.

Grand AM Rolex series is my favorite.  ALMS is cool too.  Aussie V8's are raucous to watch.

That's right. Hyundai does have a 4.6 V8. Dang it.

Uh... last time I watched the V8 Supercars, 1 crashed and the body crumpled and the right rear passenger door came open. None of the body panels I saw was made of nothing but steel. Did they change them completely for this year??

This may clarify my other post lol

Bodyshell

Each V8 Supercar is based on a current-specification VE Commodore or FG Falcon production bodyshell, with an elaborate roll cage.  In 2007, new rules stipulated both the Commodore and Falcon adopt  composite front mudguards in place of the production steel items, in  order to save costs. The composite guards are a homologated (fixed)  laminate of fibreglass and aramid (or similar) fibres.
The VE Commodore was initially rejected[by whom?]  from taking part in the series due to its wheelbase being longer and  wider than the BF Falcon. For the model to be homologated, V8 Supercar  granted the Commodore a custom fabricated bodyshell into which a limited  number of production bodyshell panels are incorporated. As a result,  the roofline is lower than production and the rear door is shorter such  that externally the rear doors, roof and rear quarters all consist of  specialised custom coachwork panels.

I like Nascar and I hated that Toyota is included.  I don't care if they are made in the USA and may have more American built parts than the BIG 3, they do not belong in Nascar nor as a Pacecar.  2013, Dodge may not be included in the lineup of Nascar, I don't get it?  What are they gonna bring in Hyandai or Kia? Make em all riceburners or noodlespooners why the are at it.

Actually the only composite parts on Sprint Cup cars are the front and rear noses, the rest is sheetmetal. :)

It's kinda funny that Dodge is only going to have Robby Gordon next year. I hate to see Dodge lose out again, but they need more of a R&D in their engine department. Not that I'm a Dodge fan or anything  :mullet:

It will be good to have Penske back in the Ford camp. We can always use a fresh perspective on the program.
