Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #1 – January 22, 2012, 11:29:16 PM The best quality rotors I've used were Brembo. They were noticeably heavier than the rotors they replaced and were able withstand hard stops from 150+ mph without cracking. Other rotors I've had would either crack or warp badly under those conditions. Quote Selected
Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #2 – January 22, 2012, 11:33:48 PM NAPA seems to be a good choice for rotors. I've always had decent luck with Raybestos as well.See this page also for some suggestions and lots of info:http://www.coolcats.net/restoring/brakes.html Quote Selected

Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #5 – January 23, 2012, 02:12:41 PM The Motorcraft rotors made in the last 3-4 years are Chinese parts! Prior to that they were made in the USA. A guy I buy parts from locally is a Motorcraft dealer and has a stock of NOS Motorcraft parts. When I replaced the rotors on the T-bird three years ago I found out that the new Motorcraft rotors are made in China. Fortunately the guy I buy parts from had an old set of rotors from the late 90's that were made here. They are noticeably thicker than the Chinese made ones. Needles to say I bought the NOS ones from the parts guy. The Motorcraft pads are still made in the USAI can't find Motorcraft 10" drums anywhere though. I have a set of Bendix drums on my car and they are made in the USA and are nice quality pieces. Motorcraft shoes for the 10" drums are still available. Quote Selected
Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #6 – January 23, 2012, 03:23:32 PM Napa is the only place that will turn rotors anymore, and they won't turn most. Newer brakes are all thinner and made in chine, that I have gotten. Generally by the the brake pads went, so did the rotor. Quote Selected
Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #7 – January 23, 2012, 04:28:30 PM Yes, that's how pretty much all of the Chinese rotors are: non-turnable. I remember getting $19/ea Chinese rotors for my old '88 Thunderbird that started pulsating after about 500 miles. Too thin to turn, barely over spec to begin with. Use them up, throw them away. The pads actually did outlast the rotors LOL. Quote Selected
Stock Rotors to Replace Reply #8 – January 23, 2012, 04:58:34 PM I think I paid $50 each for the last two rotors I did on the 87 bird. After the first panic stop they vibrated horribly. I had a truck spin out in front of me in the snow in a 75mph zone. I was doing almost 80mph and barely stopped. Stopped nice and straight, but vibrated the pedal like I had badly malfunctioning abs.
