My 88 TC

Well after months of looking at overpriced Tbirds or one that were totally rotted, I finally found one for more than a far price that the guy was willing to sell quick. The previous owner gave me some back story on it and had also started to fix some things or improve them.

It started life as an automatic, but was swapped over to a T5. Thankfully!! LOL  Just before he got it, it was actually sitting in a salvage yard that one of his buddys owned and they still had the clear title. So he bought it off of them. I love that part of the back story! I should call this project "SAVED" or something of the like.

My resto is gonna be slow as right now I need to use it as a DD, but somethings are going to be taken car of right away so it doesnt rust any worse than it is. The undercarriage is solid and only has surface rust in some places. I need to find a local re-upholstery shop to recover the leathers seat, but the interior is complete and just needs a little work.

Motor is completely stock, for now. Atleast for the next few months:evilgrin:! Well enough of me rambling, heres some pics!!!

I do to, they are just so different than what you normally see on tbirds.

Was doing a once over in the engine bay seeing what needed changing or topping off and noticed a few things. Some one has put a MSD blaster coil in and a K&N drop in filter(which needed a cleaning). The K&N will only be run til I do a CAI, but its cleaned non the less. Who knows maybe I will find more surprises.

Thanks, the sad part is I was given a set of stockers to, but I just dont think it would look as good with them on.

On the rust repair/resto front, I got ahold of the original owner about some other parts he had for it and in about a month Im gonna have atleast a good driverside fender and another engine with about 130,000 on it. Im gonna rebiuld that engine and add a few aftermarket pieces to it for piece of mind if I decide to go big later!

Im taking it down to a buddys shop tomorrow to see if a Saleen FMIC that he has there will fit and be easy to plumb. If it will I will probably have that together before spring. Its also gonna get the interior vacuumed out tomorrow!!!! LOL

The last couple days Ive been having an issue with it dieing when I got to stop. Well after a little research the Tps sounded like the culprit, so I went though the procedure to adjust it and all I can say is wow. Runs and drives 10X better than before. The base idle and tps were so far out of adjustment it wasnt funny, Im actually surprised it ran at all. Of course with my new found power I had to play a little bit, burned tires threw first gear and a bit into second!! I love my TC!!! LOL

It looks like a good car to start with. A good cleaning would do it wonders. I also like the wheels.

Got a Gillis boost manual boost controller on the way. Good thing to, because I think the BCS is having issues as Ive never reached over about 8 psi in any gear. Little things here and there are coming up but nothing major. Just had to do the water pump and replaced the thermostat while I was at it.

Well in the process of installing the Gillis, I did figure out why I was only boosting to 8-9psi. One of the vacuum lines right at the BCS was swelled up and starting to crack, besides that I dont think the BCS was working right anymore anyways. Now that I have full boost all I can say is WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Its a totally different car now. Since I have not to many other mods at the moment I left the knock sensor hooked up, not to mention I do like to listen to the radio!

Had it up on a lift doing a basic part condition check I noticed a few things.
1. I need a new rack and pinion, mines leaking
2. I need new front sway bar bushings - Ill probably go aftermarket
3. Looking and measuring - I need new rear coil springs

Other than that everything is good and up to par. I do have some rust repair to do on the underside, but the usual rotted out things are sold. So Im extremely happy, the gas tank strap mounts are even solid. Every other Tbird Ive had they were so rotted I had to improvise to keep the tank in place.

i assume you're just running the stock boost gauge in the cluster? about how much boost does it say you're getting? good to see she's running to her potential now

Ya just temporarily running the stock one. I need to figure out how and where to mount an aftermarket. Its been pretty accurate, since I now the BCS wasnt working and I was only hitting 8-9 psi and thats what it read. At the moment itshiznitting 14 most the time occasionally 15.
