No Start Problem

The Car:
'87 Cougar LX, 5.0HO out of a Lincon Mark VII, MAF conversion, A9L computer, 5 speed.

The Problem:
Car ran great in the garage on jacks, drove it around the block several times & no problems.  Frist time driving to work it was popping through the exhaust a little at cruise.  5 miles into the drive engine quits.  cranks no start.  towed home new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter.  No go.  New computer problem solved.

second drive runs great lots of power, again about 4 or 5 miles into drive it shuts off on me.  towed home again.  this time if you keep cranking the starter it will almost start but it bucks really bad and seems like it is out of time.  new coil, and TFI module.  triple checked timing.  still nothing.

Next steps?
I am thinking about getting a fuel pressure gauge but I don't think that it is a pressure issue you can smell raw gas while cranking.  when I had the distributator out I noticed that when turning the shaft it feels like the Vanes on the rotary armature are hitting the Hall effect device, but I can't really tell it may just be the magnet.  I am very temped to go and get a new distribitor & computer.  Any thoughts?

I would double check the power and grounds for the computer, if you're burning up computers there is a short of some kind somewhere. :) Also make sure your mass air conversion wires are in the correct slots.
