Illuminated lock cylinder/Keypad swap

Anybody have a source? My car has been repainted, so if I buy the available standard round bezel, you'll see a ring of the old paint.

And I would like to swap out my chrome sunfaded keyless entry pad for a new black one. Do they all fit the same, or should I get a specific one. EBay seems a little pricey. Are they all 60-70$?

and..... I cant even use the standard door locks. They dont attach to the rods the same way.

Still havent found anything on the keypads. A guy sells NOS ones on ebay, and is on the other side of town from me(Im in Houston, thats a 45 min drive), but hasnt returned my email, or phone call. He has a chrome tbird, and a Windstar that looks very similar, but Im not wasting $60 on something that I cant use.

Am I really the first to do either of these? A search on the keypad just brings up 1000 results on finding the code. Searching the cylinder brings up replacing ignition cylinders.

I believe there are slight wiring differences between the old keyless pads (chrome bezel) and the new pads (black bezel) but as far as physically fitting, they should be fine. I don't recall anyone having to enlarge the mounting holes, and IIRC the mounting tabs are the same. It's just in the wiring. Paul (V8Demon) has done this swap before...might want to PM him.

For your door lock solenoids: the bodies of the solenoids are all the same, it's just the rod that's different. With a little effort you can swap out your rod into a new solenoid. It involves a lock connector and some ball bearings, nothing extremely difficult.

Thanks for the V8Demon tip, Ill shoot him a PM.

On the locks, Im speaking on the lock cylinders, not the solenoids. I ordered a solenoid for the passenger side since I have the panels off anyways, but thats not what Im working with. I called the locksmith we use at our shop, and they said they can rebuild my original cylinders(the passenger side is locked up, thats what started this headache). I wanted to get rid of the chrome/stainless look, but this is my best bet. Ill think about painting the bezel, i guess.

OK, gotcha. Well, the closest you'd get would be an illuminated lock cylinder from, say, a Turbo Coupe or Thunderbird Sport, or an XR7, all 1987-88 vintage. They had a "smoked" appearance to the lock housings and were more like a...dirty chrome. I have a p/n of E7WY-6322050-C, but that is probably for a regular lock cylinder and not the keyless one. And you're correct: you'd have to get a locksmith to repin the new cylinders to your key, regardless.

Or like you said, you could have yours blasted and painted.

The site link in my signature has 2 key lock sets for a 1986 T-bird:
E6SZ-6322050-C black cylinder non illuminated w/o anti-theft
E6SZ-6322050-B bright cylinder illuminated and w/o anti-theft

look in the 20000 section of the site and scroll down. BTW, they have a left side smoke color speaker grille.

1996-97 Cobra wheel straight but weathered (For Sale)
84 TC manual shifter handle no  (For Sale)

BTW, I had a 1988 T-Bird Sport way back when. I found out that it was totalled shortly after trading it in. It still has the ignition switch recall to date.

Special thanx to EricCoolCats for showing me to this site.

Thanks for that link, wow.

Im liking keeping the illuminated ones the more I think about it. Im going to take the ignition cylinder and the other door cylinder out and have them all cleaned up and rekeyed. Might as well hammer it all out.

We have a sandblaster here anyways, so i should be able to key it up enough for a good paint to last.
