A new engine... Engine is a part.... :D  :giggle:
You can get a whole HO engine (225HP) with computer at the yard from a mustang to replace your lazy original EFI (155HP)...

Everything works conjointly to give you power.... what ever you are adding, an intake, Cold air kit, heads, or Cam, none of this will give you more than 2-3HP each.... but used conjointly will give more than i said...

Nitrous is probably what you are looking for, but you engine need good piston... If everything on your car is stock, I wouldnt go with nitrous unless I dont care blowing my engine....

The best bang for the buck would be a speed density computer from an HO and the rest, heads, cam, injectors from a HO, Explorer intake along with a 65mm TB.

Yes the afr heads are the best smallblock heads on the market, and claims of a bolt on 100hp is about right with those heads.
However i gotta claim :bs:  on that 405hp and this is the reason:
They said they started out with a stock newly ringed 302 and e7te heads which should be 225hp,how even with a 4bbl carb(which is not better than the proper injection by any means)do they pull a baseline of 278hp(WTF)?
So say that is BS(and it is) and the real hp is 225 as a baseline, add 100hp+23hp for the rockers and you end up with 348hp,also add to the price all the other parts such as 24lb inj, better intakes,70mm tb,adj fuel press reg and better fuel pump(alot han they stated huh).
That from what i've read and from the dyno pulls i've seen sounds about right.
You gotta put in a cam with all those parts to get near 400hp.
Also when your making 400hp,you gotta get a better trans no queston as i've heard a stock aod will only handle 300-325hp reliably as well as frame connectors.
Hate to rain on your parade man but to get a car to handle 400hp you,ve gotta spend alot of cash,it's not as cheap as they make it sound.

you have a lot to learn

finding a "bolt on kit" for power isnt the right way, thats the way of making money off of people who dont know much about cars

sure, you can go buy this kit to make 400hp, but what you dont know is, can your transmission hold up, your rear, will your computer and harness work, can your chassis handle it, will headers work on your car

before you look to create more power, research the cars, learn the cars, and save money while you do, ive had my car for 5 years now, and been researching, reading, and talking for 5 years, and i still have a 3.8 in the car...

think about this...you bought a house, a little, nice single floor house, and you want to build onto it, so you add some dormers to the attic, so you can finish the attic, you refinish the basp00get, thats fine and dandy, but you want more room, so you add a second story, and then finish the new attic, then you have to build onto that even more so, wow, the house is great, so you go farther, you start to build an addition...then you see the original foundation to this nice little house is starting to crumble under the stress of these modifications and additions to the house

same thing goes with a car
It's Gumby's fault.

look man, i dont want to be a dick, because i can appreciate anyone who likes these cars, but did you consider anything i said?

start reading the boards, reading coolcats.net, and things like that, so you can decide for yourself what you should do, rather than just ask a bunch of questions and rely on what everyone else says

would you rather be able to explain why you bought something, or buy it and say "this guy told me to buy it, so i did"

Something that has already been suggested by at least three other board members, and very good advise...

Hey guys lets not be too hard on the kid.  At least he's showing an interest in cars...and our cars on top of that.  We all had to start somewhere.  :grinno: A lot of us were raised on this stuff so it makes it hard to see why people are so clueless about working on and modifying cars.

My advice is to make friends with people in your area who are knowledgable...they might be older guys who grew up building motors for muscle cars back in the day.  This way you will see first hand what it takes.  Making 400 hp out of a 155 hp motor isn't cheap or easy so you will need to do a lot of research and save a lot of  money.

Glad to see you have an interest in these cars and all you can do is learn more and work on it yourself!

I agree talk to knowledgeable folks in your area (clubs, custom shops, read the boards) i wanted more horse power too when i started (still do) but i've been reading and learning and have backed off on my expectations, because of:
1. the car is fun to drive as it is
2. the 155 hp rating is deceptive the car acually performs pretty well
3. the cheap simple things to do at the start seem to work against  later planed updates.
4. a complete going over of all systems to bring them back to peak perfromance has really helped. New plugs, new wires, new cap, new rotors, new TPS, new O2 sensors, new fuel and air filters, correct thermostat, clean the inside of the throttle body, fix all
vaspooge leaks, clean all electrical connections and make sure they are tight when reinstalled. doing all this over the course of about 2 month cost just over $100.00 and my 96K mile t-bird with single exhaust now gets over 15 mpg and will spin the tires from a standing start on dry pavement, and the kick down punch on the highway when passing is a really something for an 18 year old car.

With my simple and easy combo you most likely wouldn't have to spend more than $500 if that. I believe a member here is selling a set of E7's for $25 and an HO intake for under $30 I think. Heck you can pick up HO cams all day long for cheap or for free. The injectors are on every FI 302/351 Ford pickup and nobody really wants a speed density computer anymore. Heck I have a HO speed density computer as well. I guarantee you will love the power and the driveability with this combo for now. With this setup I have personaly seen 235 RWHP and mid 13 timeslips (Mustang coupe) with this combo. It works, its cheap, parts are very easy to come by and you will have no idling issues. Dont spend your money on high dollar heads until you plan out what intakes and cams you are going to run with your aluminum heads. The combo I mentioned has been in production and raced many, many times so you can count on it working without being a hassle. You want something to work the first time and not hassle with it? Go with my combo and you will be VERY happy and not financially drained.
