I've had this happen a few ways, as a bad switch and they wouldn't come on, and then the wires broke inside the insulation about 6" back from the switch, and then I had a bad switch where they stayed on.

Ok what year is the Vehicle and what make???? Does it have a THIRD brake light??? Does the third brake light work ??? Is the brake light fuse ok??? If all the brake lights are out its probably the switch or the wiring or a fuse. Does the fuse blow ???? When you hit the brakes??? But if the third brake light works it can be in the MFS switch. Please give more info Thanks

Check the brake light switch if all the brake lights are off. The wires to the switch usually break off.

On my last two Birds, the wire at the switch burned and I had to splice in new wire and replace the switch. Easy, easy stuff. 10 minute job if you take your time.
