Frankenstein

Here is what I did today.

Got all the parts for the cold / ram air intake from home depot.  The last picture is the base of what I used.  A K&N filter fits snug in the metal duct, but I sealed it off just in case.  I used rubberized weather stripping as an insulator to keep the engine heat out.  The filter sucks air in from the top and the front.  Cold air comes in from the inner parking lights as I cut holes where they used to be.  I cut a ford V8 valve cover in half and am welding it on the hood as a scoop (pics tomorrow)

I like the idea, but to be honest, I don't like the hood cutting, fabbed from a valve cover "scoop" kind of idea. I hope it looks better than my minds vision of what you explained. What if it rains hard while you're driving?

It should be fine.  The scoop will cover it for the most part.  It should actually look decent if everything goes as planned.

I hope so. I just have horrible memories of a guy at work that had a Corsica, and he used Sharpie markers to do flames on the front, cut a hole in the hood and used a dryer vent as a scoop with sheet metal screws. I don't like Corsicas, but the poor car didn't deserve that.
