Another one from Philly....but it's got $8-grand o' SLEEPER under the hood!!!

;)

Really a potential good deal assuming it's not rotted the hell out, if it cleans up nice at worst a new tank and sending unit and you've got some giddy-up in a black four-eye cat for $1500.....feel bad for the dude because an engine builder got $8200 out of him promising "365 hp" with a cam, pistons and headers. No mention of heads, probably just E7s.

Is it just me or are there a lot of our cars out there with 5.0s that haven't been left alone? I'm happy to see this. Search a little and score these sweet looks, with the power they should have had.

EDIT....just like that black ebay LS from Florida.....red pinstripe. GOD I love that. Probably gonna have that done to my black one.
1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

the 5.slows in these cars NEED to be molested lol but he got raped on the trans too, unless it has more work done to it than he listed.. a stock rebuild kit for a C6 will run you about $400.. so that's one crazy labor rate LOL

Or for the other 99% of people out there, a 150hp 150k car that gets 28mpg freeway that you can pick up for a couple hundred is good enough.

Noone I know would oull out an aod for a c6 on a $500 car.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

If the aod was garbage, and you didn't drive freeway, then yes. I am not a fan of the aod either, I would rather have a t-5. But I wouldn't give up a couple dollars in gas a drive, to replace something that is not broken.

they make OD kits for the C6.. they cost a lot, but they work great.. an old (R.I.P.) customer of mine had it in his mach 1, ran just like an AOD until you stomped on the throttle.. he said he went through 3 professionally built AOD's before he went with the C6 OD kit and had it built.. mild internal upgrades and it lasted him 40k until he passed away last year.. i don't know who makes it but it definitely seems to keep up with the C6's legendary strength

EDIT.. i got an email from a potential customer with an 85 4 cyl mustang, who was quoted $7800-8k for an HO swap with a mild motor build.. apparently, a good chunk of this guy's (from the CL ad) cost was labor, because of the harness swap and such.. this is where my business rolls in, because i don't charge a huge overhead like most shops need to, in order to pay rent, utilities, etc.. i fear that most shops charging such a large overhead are going to start killing the car scene soon, since the economy is still in the toilet

Why wouldn't you just get a gear splitter overdrive then? If you have $2-3k to get whatever you want, there are a lot of other options with overdrive.

All we have left in decent shape is low option 3.8 cars. I'm waiting till I find a 5.0 car before I pull the trigger on another T-bird ;).
