short on power windows May 14, 2005, 09:45:27 AM So my car has had a dead battery for two days, with two diffrent batteries. The power window got stuck down, but I didnt really think about it until today. So it looks like I have to pull out the seat and mess with wires. at least it stopped raining Quote Selected

Re: short on power windows Reply #2 – May 15, 2005, 06:44:45 AM short? you sure bout that?some people say its "shorted out" when it does not work. the console comes apart so you shouldnt have to remove the seat,,unless you think there is a wiring issue under the carpet...? Quote Selected
Re: short on power windows Reply #3 – May 15, 2005, 11:36:03 AM Did you check to see it the other side still works? My 84 T/C has a circuit breaker not a fuse. I had to pull it out to reset it. Also have you checked the switch. Alot of the time the switch gets full of stuff and just needs a good cleaning. Also if all that stuff checks out pull the door panel and see if you have power at the motor before you start digging into the wiring. Quote Selected
Re: short on power windows Reply #4 – May 16, 2005, 01:32:09 PM the lights dim a great deal when I try to roll the window up or down. Nothing like the passenger side. basically it just dims the light considerably. I decided that it wasent the battery going dead so it prolly isnt a short. I found the map light on last night . The motor dosent even try to turn. Its almost like trying to start the starter using a dead battery. It just goes clink and then the light dim. I think that the motor might be shot. I might just get a new door if it is gonna give me to much trouble. I can get a door for around $20, i'll bet the motor and wires is around 15 Quote Selected
