Some might just say he upgraded...without having even seen the Capri. I'd do it.Much as I love my 'Bird, I'd trade it right now for a decent, comparable condition 5.0 Capri...As rare as TC's are, think how much more uncommon Capris are.. Quote Selected

Out of four models, slightly over 25% were TCs... I'm guessing the LX & Base out sold the TC(Ford claims not to have production figures for the other models) so that would make the Sport as the lowest production... Rare cars are the 5.0 Capri and models like my '93 Lightning(5276 built), or my '03 Marauder with 7838 built...Turbo Coupe Production1983 - 12,566 of 121,999 - 10.3% of total production1984 - 14,677 of 170,551 - 8.59% of total production1985 - 20,804 of 151,852 - 13.70% of total production1986 - 21,575 of 165,965 - 12.99% of total production1987 - 23,833 of 128,135 - 18.60% of total production1988 - 37,252 of 147,243 - 25.30% of total produciton Quote Selected
Taking delivery of a 88 turbocoupe! Reply #9 – December 27, 2010, 03:59:05 PM Not arguing that point Tom, the numbers do speak for themselves. Just merely made my post of my own experiences; I've only ever seen 3 '88 TC's in person, 2 of those were in junkyards. Still, I'd trade ANY '88 Thunderbird for an '86 5.0 Capri that wasn't beat on..I'll just be diplomatic and say this: '88 Thunderbirds are getting ever harder to find. Quote Selected

I really think it has a lot to do with where you live. In some places, it seems that our cars are still showing up, and in others, they are completely extinct. I'm sure that goes respectively for the different models. Quote Selected
Taking delivery of a 88 turbocoupe! Reply #11 – December 28, 2010, 12:37:56 AM There is plenty around here. Most seem to be automatics, have to do some traveling for the 5 speed ones. There is a guy a few houses down from me that used to have a few. He has one 88 Sport left. I dont know what happend to them they just slowly went away. Quote Selected
Taking delivery of a 88 turbocoupe! Reply #12 – December 28, 2010, 11:29:50 AM I'd love to find another Sport, in much better shape with a few less options...even if I had to fly out and drive it back.I've got something in the pipeline for an engineless TC...but it's not what I'd call local. Taking delivery of a 88 turbocoupe! Reply #13 – December 28, 2010, 11:36:54 AM They were not a limited build car, but TC's are becoming rare. That would be a better way to put it. Most of them around here were/are run into the ground by white trash folks. Quote Selected
