Went racing with the Mustang on Monday....

....and pulled off a few low 12 second runs (12.3's), albeit with GARBAGE 60 foots.....
Had to drive there and back with the car as my Nitro decided to blow up on the Friday before (rocker arm shaft assembly took a dump on the right cylinder head)

Best was a 12.32 with a DISMAL 1.88 60 foot...trapped at 111.8.  Had I towed her down there I would have been more aggressive, but I had fear of snapping the transmission input shaft.  Afterward I spoke to someone concerning that.

Behold the red Roush in the following video.....

STOCK INPUT SHAFT.  The person I spoke to was Dan Carlson from Realspeed who set this car up.

I figure at 20 PSI and a 2300 RPM launch I can hit low 1.7's or high 1.6's on the 60 foot.....

I was leaving at 16-1800 RPM all day and bogging.  I got miffed on one pass and brought it to 2800 and spun like a mofookie netting a 13.2 @ 111 with a 2.5 60.......FAIL.

There are 11's in the car as she sits right now.....I KNOW IT.  Whether or not I can eek them out is another story.  Before yesterday I had been away from the track for 29 months.....I'll bring my friend who goes more often next time to see what he can pull out of her......

On another note; I need more gear.  With the 28 inch tall tire and 3.73's I'm crossing the line @5100......Redline is 6500......4.10's should put me around 5600.

As it was I was the ONLY car that wasn't trailered down and made it through the day without breaking.  F-body driveshafts are junk......I watched as one twisted in 2 on a near stock LS1 car.  7 of the 15 cars broke.

Also -- this is what a 1.28 60 foot looks like.

Sounds like the ole 'stang has a lot left in her if needed.  Are you still running the stock drive shaft?  I was under the impression that the S197 drive shafts were pr0ne to breakage as well.

Are you still running radials? If so those are pretty  good times.

I tried to bring the rpms on my T-bird up to 2000 to launch at the track last time. The result was massive wheel spin. It looked cool but I ran a 15.2 at 94 instead of my usual mid 14s....I know without wheel spin that this car has a high 13 in it.

I was running the DR's and leaving soft.  My best time was at 18-1900.  Was planning on seeing what 2300 would do as it bogged at 19, but I had to be back in NY by 7 PM and ran out of time.  There's a low 1.7 or high 1.6 in the 60 foots in there.  Just have to find it.  The 11.9 I'm chasing SHOULD come with it....

Stock GT driveshaft is good to almost 600 HP.  They're just HEAVY.  Could I replace it?  Sure, but I've heard too many vibration issues on S197's with auto transmissions and aftermarket shafts.  The V6 shaft on the other hand...Kaboom.

I can't believe I've had this car almost 6 years now....

Love to hear of guys running at the track!  Great MPH.  Good luck chasing the 60', the powers there for the 11.90.

Running supercharged in November, couldn't be a better time, if the tracks prepped well.  I'm surprised your strip is still open (they're not in Michigan...).

Painter's tape is my newest friend BTW.  Applied it to the fenderwell lips and the rear quarters behind the tires.  After I was done I took off the tape and spray waxed the car.  All remnants of the burnouts were gone in under 5 minutes.  My last outing before this was on a hot day and I just waxed the  out of the car beforehand....Took FOREVER to get everything off that time.
