Hydraulic Clutch with 302 Engine

I have a Borg Warner T5 from an '87 TC I'm planning on putting in my '88 SC with the 302 5.0L engine.  My question is, are there any issues with using the hydraulic clutch that was in the TC or do I need to use a cable clutch from a mustang?

#1. No such thing as an '88 SC.
(if you do indeed have a SC, it's an '89, and not so sure a T5 will work. Didn't SC's use the M5 that Rangers and F-150's used, with some differences..?)

#2. First gear will be useless very quickly if you have 3.55s or (numerically) higher ratio out back..and..

#3. Yes, cable.

:D I don't mean to come off as a pompous ass...but an SC is a whole other beast compared to what we work with here. ;)

Far as I'm concerned (you MN-12 guys will LOVE this lol) the last true Tbird was an '88.....I've driven long term an '89..utter junkola.

I drove a 94 a couple of times. Its not the same, but I'm not sure you couldn't call it a thunderbird. Wouldn't be the kind I would look at though. The t-5 should swap, but I am not sure what it would take. One of the guys here did a t-5 behind a 88 3.8. I belive it was cougarse. There should be some info to help you there.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

If in fact you are dealing with an MN12 platform car then these site would be a wealth of information:

judgeing from his other post, when he says SC, he is refering to Sport Coupe...

Well, one can never tell.
It's generally taken that "SC" refers to the Boosted Birds '89+, whereas the Sports ("87-'88) are commonly called.."Sport".

Any case, if the OP plans to run a TC T5 behind the v8, he'll need a Probe pilot bearing, as the input shaft on the 4 banger transmission is smaller.
The pilot bearing/bushing can be found at any parts store...I do believe an '89 is the one to get. :D

Sorry, I should have clarified, SC doesn't stand for Super Coupe but Sport Coupe.  Eventually I'd like to make it a super coupe with a twin screw roots style super charger, but that would be years down the road it at all.

I've got a 87 t.c with a healthy 380ish HP 5.8 with the T.C T5 up against it and 3.73 gears and I love it. I used input shaft bearing from a probe and bought the alignment tool separately I forget the year but if you do it i probably have the receipt in the draw Now the car can barely be called a daily driver but at the top of third and 6500 rpm I'm pushing 90mph. 1st will plant ya in the seat does monster 2nd gear burnouts. The car started out as a auto. I didn't like the hydraulic set up it seemed luxury to me so I went with a 87 mustang booster, master and pedals. Used a bbk adjustable firewall adjuster and motorsports cable the holes are already in the frame for the bracket.  Now that said I hooked the line lock up today and can heat the tires up better so the t5 wont last much longer if I can hook her up. Still want a TKO
