Figured it out!!

I went out this morning on my way to work.. Started it up and went to put it in drive and the shifter dropped right to the bottom... The linkage came off, the bushing that holds it in broke in half. The Advance Auto said they don't have that part... Anyone have one or know where I can get it.. Its the first linkage I would imagine the one connected from the shifter..

I'd ask the Ford dealer.  You could probably fabricate a new linkage pretty easily if it came to it.

I may pick up another for a spare only 2 dealers in the area had any stock..

Is this the column shifter bushing for the z-shaft between the frame and engine brackets?  My shifter is extra sloppy because of it missing some sort of bushing on the end of that z-shaft.

The HELP! brand at the autostores sells a universal-type kit that has all kinds of those bushings in there, I used them on my 20th when I took my linkage apart. Very aggravating to change.

Very true... I pushed the car back on the ramps with my expedition and left it up against it behind it. No more rolling back after that...

I know I should have I thought about it but impatient me said it will only take a few minutes to fix.... Also I doubt the jack stands would of had a firm stable platform on the grass I was doing it on either....( don't have a driveway)
