X303 Camshaft

Would this cam fit in a bone stock 5.0 HO Mustang engine in regards to clearance and valve springs? The engine is a '89 with stock heads.
Only in America do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well: "POLI" in latin meaning "many", "TICS" meaning "bloodsucking creatures".

you need stronger valve springs, i needed them for my F303.. as for clearance, not sure.. do you have any idea if your pistons have valve reliefs?

Maybe but why? It's a turd of a camshaft, especially with stock E7 heads......

Yes, it's the stock '89 forged pistons. The heads are totally rebuilt with new valve springs.

I know it's not the best out there for sure, but I know guys with the same cam running low 12's high 11's with it. Of course not with the stock E7's or a 5.0.
The only mod to the heads is the removal of the emissions bump in the exhaust port.

the X303 isn't that bad of a cam.. beings that the heads are E7's is a bit of a downfall, but with a nice set of ported GT40's and long tubes, the cam will really come alive.. although it's MUCH better suited for a carb'd motor

NO!    .542 lift and STOCK springs is a disaster just waiting to happen.  Have you thought about upgrading the rockers to a 1.7roller with stock springs which would give you .472?

I haven't as far as the rockers, I have FMS 1.60 rollers in their currently. Now I know that Ford claims .444 lift on the stock HO cam but from what I have read is that Ford measured their cams differently then aftermarket manufactures do.

switching to 1.7 rockers is a far overlooked upgrade to boost cam lift(so to speak).

Stock valvesprings are good for one thing...taking up space in the s pile.  They aren't even adequate for the stock cam.

With stock heads and near stock everything else;  you will run slower with that cam.

x2, you need to improve the air/fuel and exhaust flow before shooting for a big cam like the X303. E7's are the main disaster area as they flow like a fart in a can :shakeass:
