the loudness stop and the volume is very faint,even when turned all the way up,any info, stock radio/tape for 1986 cougar xr-7

I think he's trying to say the am/fm is good, but the tapes are bad quiet, even with the volume turned all the way up.

ok the radio.tape is very low volume.The  right and left speakers and radio,tape work. The sound is very low ,even with the volume all the way up.Any info,maybe radio is shot,or the amp.it is the stock stereo.Where is the amp located on a 1986 cougar xr7

If you play with the balance s, does it get louder? I have heard that they can get gummed up and not contact.

all of a sudden the radio,tape lost it loudness. radio,tape.speakers work but very low,even with the volume control turn all the way up.what can it be,the radio or amp etc. any info
