Detent cable shift oops whiplash ouch!

OK, this is about my 1992 Ford F150 with an AOD. I changed the transmission out from a 93. My truck was a reg cab, the swapped one came out of an ext cab. If I connect the detent cable, it will wait till 4000-5000 rpms before shifting and case whiplash. If I reove the detent cable, it shiznits smooth as glass but wont downshift (duh) unless you do it manually. SOmeone told me the old cable is to short. ANy ideas? its kinda the same tranny ford uses so I figured y'all might know:toilet:

Couldn't resist, sorry, lol.

Umm, you may go look over at ford-trucks.com and see what you can dig up, or even join and post about it. Don't mention my name though lol (j/k)

I do know that somewhere around 93 or 94 or 95, they started using the E4OD in them, and got away from the AOD...I wouldn't think the cab difference would come into play though, the length is behind the seats....the driveshaft(s) are different, not the length of the trans. I would assume the cable would be the same as well. Then again, I know about a thimbles' worth of the truck auto trannys. So I guess I shouldn't post at all, lol.

Anyway, hopefully you can find some info at FTE or elsewhere :D
