A small pair of Vice-Grips will usually pinch the nipple(ouch) enough to break them loose...

Thanks again everyone. I "switched" it out and the bird is back to normal. I have three project Fords, I always count on the Tbird to run so when this happened the other day that feeling of dread overcame me... "How am I going to deal with this right now...? So, because of this forum, I was able to get directly to the source of the problem and make the swap without dicking around. I have two small kids so my free time is next to zero. THANKS.

Hey since you were there, are they rivets? I remember when I was 16 or so, they failed me on saftey because I was starting the car with a screw driver(police impound). I tried to drill these "bolts", or are they rivets?, and ended up getting a new steering colum for some reason. I can't remember why.

My bird has the same setup as this, and I was curious what you had to do to get them out, just in case I end up doing it on mine.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Oh, I just slotted the heads with a Dremel cutting disc. Removed with standard screwdriver and re-used them.
