Taking headlights apart

I've been searching for a while and I can't seem to find the thread..

I'm picking up some TC headlights in about an hour or so here to go with the header panel I recently purchased, and I'd like to REALLY make these things look good.

They're in pretty good shape, but basically, I'd like to completely dissassemble them.

How do I separate the lens from the rest of the unit (if that's even possible)?

I thought I saw a thread within the last year on how to do it, but I can't find it. Maybe I dreamed it..

People pry them open by running hot water over them for a while to soften the glue. Then pry away with a tool of your choice. Somebody posted pics a while ago of them doing it-I personally have never done this before. New headlights are usually on eBay for about $160-$200

yes, I just pry them off with a flat screwdriver, or a strong putty knife if you've got one. I never had to unglue them though. All of mine have just come right apart. If you have the headlight in your hands, you can probably just pull the lense off yourself.

Also, if you've got a drill at home, go to advance or autozone and pick up yourself a 3M headlight restoration kit with the sanding pads. They worked amazing on mine to make the lenses clear and shiny. It was the only thing I could find that worked. And its only $20. I rechromed my housings with a little duplicolor chrome spray paint too, that made a hell of a difference.

I've used something similar to that before...

Unfortunately I didn't end up getting the headlights, just the inner markers and one outside marker..I have the headlights on my bird, so I'll just take those off I suppose. When I get to actually mess with the bird this summer. Intermediate Accounting is kicking my rear...

Btw, sarj I'm sending you a PM with that guy's number about the TC hoods. He still has two.
