well the time has come

after owning my cougar for 10 years it's time to part with it and no i'm not happy about it at all :toilet:
since i have lived in floriduh i have not had much time and mostly had not had the money to do the things i should be doing to keep up with the car. that does'nt  mean that the car has'nt bin good to me it has and had bin very reliable, especially for the way it was built ie for street racing.. the drivetrain is fine ie motor, transmission, and rear end..

but the car now needs a little front and rear suspension work, rack and pinion,a whole new interior, so far it does'nt sound to bad but still cost money.next the nightmare...
the car needs paint. the next two things really pissed me off which in my eyes deemed the car a waste  of time over the paint job..

i found a little chassis rot on the frame just under the drivers side strut tower most likely from my 2 years in rhode island:disappoin and is my fault because if i would have bin paying attention to the car like i should have bin for the past 5 years i would have cought it when it just started and it would have bin no big deal. ie just a little sanding rust stop and primmer and paint. but again i did'nt:asshole: . the other thing was my firewall at the brake booster and clutch cable collapsed.. and is cracked big time! so if you add all the things that need to be fixed it's way to much money.. now on the other hand if i was going to make this car just a race car i would just get out the mig welder and go to town.. but thats not the case and i would never be happy with the patch work for a street car..
and besides shops down here are thefts.. something that should cost $800.00 they want like $2000.00 and so on..

which leaves me the option of a donor car right well yes but i figure what would cost my about $1000.00 in new york ie 250 out twice and 250 back in plus some parts needed when doing the swap.. would say a fair guess down here would be between $3000.00 to $4000.00 since every time i asked some for a price to do something it was 3 to 4 times what it should be..

now i could drive the car up north if i found a donor car here or somewhere up by NY or NJ but now it would be a time factor.. i do have time off coming to me from work.. good luck getting that all lined up at the same time!:giggle:

so what else is there to say i guess i'm looking for another car ie cougar,Tbird or a mark 7 or i will have to squash the whole thing and get a mark 8 and when i say squash i don't mean junk it.... sell it to someone who will put the  drivetrain to good use..over my FU@KING dead cold body would the car ever get junked i spent to much money into this car to see the car dragged onto a flatbed and knowing that the person that takes it is only going to drive it to his house and do a chezzey repair job on it  just to make it look good and try to sell it for a ton of money.. not happening..

so in the end if i can't do anything with the drivetrain it's most likely going to one of my cougar friends or personal friends to do as they see fit!

PS. to bad for you guys.. lol i'm not going anywhere your stuck with me even if i buy a VOLVO! no i'm not looking at volvo's i'm just being a smart A$$ as long is there is a catjam i will be there.. hopefully in a fox body.. or at least a mark8..

thanks for your time

thanks but a turbo coupe won't do me any good it's a 4cyl..
and would cost a ton of money to convert to V8.if i had the resources to do it my self i would buy one but i don't have a shop to do the swap.and i can't swing a motor swap at my house.. if you look back a few years a thread i made of pictures of my house you would see that my driveway is on like a 45 degree angle. so i would have to get the work done by some one. i would need a  clean V8 car  one that need a new motor or no motor or a car that has high millage..

and allso if i wanted a turbo coupe i would call Tom "turbocoupe5.0" and ask him to cough up one of the 4000 he has lol

now just think of what it would cost to do a motor swap with a conversion from a turbo 4cyl to V8

Yeah because some people like a certain fellow on corral forums do crazy things like put a 5.0 in a 242 :rollin:

1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...
1988 Black XR7 Trick Flow top end, Tremec 3550
1988 Black XR7 Procharger P600B intercooled, Edelbrock Performer non-RPM heads, GT40 intake AOD, 13 PSI @5000 RPM. 93 octane

Did you see the thread where Michael installed the 8.8 in the same Volvo as well?  It was pretty impressive, the guy knows what he is doing.

That person needs to come over and drop a 5.0 in my dads old '83 Volvo Wagon (in place of the stock N/A 4 banger :rollin:)
