Thunderbird newbie May 18, 2010, 12:13:39 AM i just picked up a 85 turbo coupe at a local used car yard for 16,00. its in near original condition but i think it has a fuel issue. there is a gassy smell coming from the gas tank and it seems to be leaking. not dripping from the bottom but the top of what i can see is moist, is there anything that usualy happens to the birds that cause this? and what kind of mpg's do they usually get? Thunderbird newbie Reply #1 – May 18, 2010, 12:26:14 AM Hey. Nice find. :) You need to take some pics of your car for us to m.. I mean look at it!From the fuel tank itself, eh? You've probably already checked the cap I'm sure. If not see if the seal on it isn't rotted or anything. Could possibly need a new gas cap (probably not a bad idea anyway) if its just smell and not dripping into a puddle or anything.Anyway, welcome! Quote Selected

Thunderbird newbie Reply #5 – May 18, 2010, 01:34:42 AM Make sure to check the gasket that seals the filler neck to the tank. If the tank was dropped it is possible the seal isn't seated properly. And of course... welcome! Quote Selected
