Firewall to Engine Ground?

I just checked my firewall (88 Cougar) and there is an eyelet with no wire attached to it.  I think I lose the ground wire that should be on the firewall going to the engine.

If so, where is the other part of this wire? Where does it bolt to the engine block?

Thanks!

Block, heads or intake will do.  If you can; be sure to check the one on the trans tunnel to the trans as well.

is this ground you refer to on the trans tunnel a common stud that pertrudes to the interior behind the ashtray atop the tunnel (common ground point for several grounds as well)?

Not sure.  the one I speak of is on the underside of the tunnel towards the front and centered in relation to left/right.  Mine was disconnected for a short spell and I blew 2 fusible links in the charging system because of this apparently.  No more blew after re-attachment.  There's simply no other explanation as to why they blew.
