Put in new fuel pump and it wont kick on!!!!
Here is the skinny... My sons fuel pump in his 87 TC went out, so I had a friend replace it with a walbro 255. Drove the car all the way home about 25 miles with no issues. My son went to start it three days later and the fuel pump wont run. Thanks to Pete at NATO I have diegrams and ran every test I could and nothing! Nada! Zilch!
Here is what I have done so far...
With key in ON position I checked....
-TPS has power
-Both yellow wires and tan/green wire to IRCM have power
-All wires on ignition switch have power
-IRCM replaced with known good unit, no change
.-When I jump the test connector you can hear the IRCM click and pump runs.
The fuel pump has power when I jump the EEC test connector, but no power otherwise
-replaced ignition switch with new one(only cost $10) no change
- replaced inertia switch with known good one, no change.
I even jump the inertia switch wires and pump did not run.
-Fuel pump has 4 wires:
With key in on position the orange wire going to pump has power, however my tester was flashing on and off.
No power to pink wire unless I jump the test connector
Its an 87 TC with no dash “check engine” light.
Again, last thing done to the car was replace fuel pump. We drove the car all the way home and parked it for three days. Now pump will not kick on at all.
I'm gonna lose it! Help!!
