Joshua's First Cougar March 27, 2010, 06:11:47 PM Well, just bought the car today and thought I'd post some before pictures here. There will be more as more stuff gets done to it. First engine removal and rebuild. Quote Selected
Joshua's First Cougar Reply #1 – March 27, 2010, 06:36:14 PM Do you have to put the 3.8 back in? Personally, I think this would be a great time to put a V8 in. A standard output 5.0 and an AOD would get you a nice jump in power and probably even better gas mileage. Good luck either way! Quote Selected
Joshua's First Cougar Reply #2 – March 27, 2010, 06:52:57 PM What are your plans with the car? Any upgrades in store for the old Cougar? Oh,Welcome aboard, and yes,I'll take that console lid off your hands. No problem at all. Quote Selected

Oh,Welcome aboard, and yes,I'll take that console lid off your hands. No problem at all.Well, I would really like to find a V8 as mentioned but failing that get it running well to start with. Then move on to the interior and really clean that up, new upholstery, rebuild dash, and general clean up. I have a few ideas kicking around regarding paint and personalization options but the biggest thing is to get it doing what it was meant to do again first. Also, what did you mean about the console lid?And for everyone's pleasure, a link to my flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45347855@N02/sets/72157623591388997/ Quote Selected
Joshua's First Cougar Reply #5 – March 28, 2010, 12:33:33 AM basically the v8s you are looking for are out of a mustang, Lincoln mark vi, crown vic, and another thunderbird or cougar. And as far as the console lid vinne was just joking.... Quote Selected
Joshua's First Cougar Reply #6 – March 28, 2010, 02:29:24 AM Well at least it came without a hood so the engine is easy to get to, huh? :hick:Oh wait, there it is.... Quote Selected
Joshua's First Cougar Reply #7 – March 29, 2010, 11:24:47 PM Well after working on it Saturday now have the engine completely out. Planning on cleaning it, replacing gaskets, and whatever else comes up. I am still looking for a V8 but my goal is to get it running first and foremost so I can use it to get to University and be my primary driver. Quote Selected

I suppose they are hard to find then? Yesterday finished taking the engine apart, now going to get cleaned and waiting for the new gaskets, rings, and bearings to come in. Quote Selected
