Some new stuff done on my '86

I put the 3.73s in and installed the HO upper plenuim and TB. with the gears it feels a little stronger out the hole but in my mind it dosen't feel that big of a differance, I still have the 5.0L SO motor in the car. I am going to the track on Wednesday to see if it drops my 60ft. I included some pics of the intake, as well as the bigger sway bars I put on the car and my new homemade intake tube.

I threw this in for the hell of it, AutoX on the race tires. 225/45/15 Hoosier DOT Road race slicks. As you can see the tires lowered the car a bit.

Hows the handling in the Autocrossing?  I now my old 86 Cougar v6 handled like molasses compared to the 91 Daytona I drive now :P  (cornering I find On the Daytona was a 10-20 km/h faster in hard cornering)  Maybe I just need some better tires on the cougar...

What's that in the far side turn-down?
Gotta watch out... they sometimes get into the fan belt.

I know about the bumpsteer, it makes it interesting on the highway  :nono: I will buy the offset rack bushings soon to hopefully correct it.

The sway bars are ST mustang bars, 1 3/8" font 1" rear. The body roll went down considerably when I put these on. I bought them off of ebay for $200.

The car handles pretty well on course. One of the more exsperinced autoXers drove my car at a driving school I attended and said he was suprised at how well it handled for such a big car. He did say that the steering was a little slower than he liked but than again the car he drives is a Civic with a 8:1 ratio rack, or some rediculas number close to that. I have a 15:1 rack.

Did you buy those exhaust dumps or are they just bent or cut from turndown tips?  With chambered lers, the inside of my '85 is a bit loud, but I don't have much room, so some like those would be perfect.

I don't think offset rack bushings will fix the bumpsteer. It looks like you've lowered the car quite a bit.

Lowering the suspension too much has some negative consequences. The point of lowering a car is to decrease lateral weight transfer (by lowering the center of gravity) to increase ultimate lateral adhesion.

When you drop the front of our cars, the roll center drops much faster than the CG. This will cause the car to understeer more. Much stiffer springs can fix that problem at the cost of reduced comfort. The lowering also worsens the camber gain curve (which is already py). "Optimum" lowering using stock parts is probably ~1 - 1 1/2 inches. Any more is just for looks.

Ther take off from my buddies '91 Mustang GT. He wasn't using them so he gave them to me. At the time I was running stock exhaust manifolds with a 1 1/4 y- pipe with about a foot of pipe coming off the Y. It is loud in my car to, I have grown acostom to it though.

The springs I put on were FRPP F springs. My car was sagging in the front bad with worn springs. and these actually raied the car up about a 1/2 inch.
