ASC/McLaren

Hey, I've got a rather good chance to buy an ASC/Mclaren Capri from a friend...
'86, rebuilt engine that runs strong as hell, but the interior and body are rough, real rough.
It's the real deal, has the decal on the hood (whats left of it-decal that is) and the remains of the decal on the back.
It had the full ground effects but one of the previous owners ripped em off... :flame:
anyway, do y'all think I should buy it, hell, some people here have bought complete HO engines for what he's askin?....

it.. I'd take it if I could. Hell, I'd probably take a McLaren Capri over this LSC I'm looking over today. I have a soft spot for Capris.

well, there's some other issues I've gotta contend with, as well...
Basically, to put it bluntly, the engine and 5 speed will come out of it, and go into my '88 Bird, while I over time restore the car, at which point I'll "give back" the engine/tranny...
Reason: my buddy got it from a guy he worked with who was broke, and HAD to sell it, but, the guy didn't have the title, and my bud told him that whoever comes up with the money first gets it...well, I have the money first, lol.
The thing is, the other guy may not wanna cough up the title, so...
what'd you guys do in this situation?

well, it IS one of 162 of the LAST ASC/McLaren Capris ever made...
but hell I dunno
more 'n likely, I'll end up getting it, buddy seems sure that the other guy will get the title, thing is, he lost it, might take him up and send in for a lost title, if he don't, I'll tell him I'm yankin' the powertrain for another car, and I'll sell him the remains for 500 bucks, lol...

Always perferd the ASC Capri/Stang convertibles over the regular stang ones.  Body looks so clean with the hide-a-way roof cover thing.

Wow, I thought all McLaren's were 'verts.  Wiiiierd.  If you buy it for the engine and tranny, $500 is a good good deal.

ASC McLaren
the car is mine, will have pics next week, still have to go get the car, more than likely, I will get the title as well, if not, well, who here can say they have an engine and trans outta ASC McLaren in their Thunderbird/Cougar??!!  ;)  :giggle:
I'm pumped as hell about this car, can't wait to get pics posted of it...
edit: I think it was one of the 40 made with platinum silver striping and black and silver wheels.
