Thought of a weird engine swap!!

Hello all,
On the way home today I thought of a very weird swap, and one that would definitely not fall under the definition of an upgrade in terms of power.  It would kinda fall under the fuel-pinching, lack-of-power, do-it-just-because-it-might-not-have-been-done-before sort of category.  Here goes.  Weren't there at least 2 different diesel 4's that came in Rangers?  They would have to mount pretty similarly to the 2.3, wouldn't they?  Well, why not make a diesel Fox?  I could see this combo getting 30+ mpg.  You just wouldn't win many races, that's for sure.  You'd almost surely want a 5-speed, and a steep rear end in it to at least be able to leave from a stoplight somewhat normally.  Wasn't one of the Ranger diesels a turbo, too?  For those of us who want to set up our own personal still and run a car on french fry oil, might be a neat project.  Whaddaya think?

Been done several times.
A fox stang was posted here not long ago with a diesel 4 in it.
The early mark vii's  also came with one factory.
However with the hassle and money involved in this swap you might as well just pay the normal gas prices as it would even out over time.

Well there are two diesel ranger engines. one is 2.2 produced from 83 and 84.  in 85 thru 87 they had a 2.3 diesel as well.  if you want more information it can be found at http://www.therangerstation.com  you can join the forum or look under tech library
