i am going to build the heat exchanger on the side of the house facing south.
the water tank you mentioned would contain the water heated via a submergable pump. the submergable pump would be triggered by a temperature switch. The main water line woudl then be submerged in this tank (under the house) to collect the radiant heat collected from the heat exchanger.

this way i dont have to mount a tank on the roof.
