5 lug with 14" wheels?

On the Coolcats site:  Brian Portez of Complete Brake Service in Columbus, OH. 10" rotors in 5 lug. http://www.completebrakeservice.com/ Anyone use these?

I'm curious to know of anyone who's done a 5 lug swap and still used 14" wheels.

The spindle is from an '84 Mustang, original 10" 4 lug.  So I assume the Ranger rotor fits.  But will a 14x6 Granada wheel fit?  Or on a different note, how about a '64 Mustang 4 lug on a stock 10" rotor?  Access to a lathe for turning the hub diameter is not a problem.

i have a spindle off of an 84 Mustang GT on my 88 t-bird if it helps any....

i would just take the rotors you have to a machine shop and have them redrilled. shouldnt cost much
Currently Birdless but never Foxless

Yeah, that's part of where I'm headed.... At this point, I'm debating on keeping the '87 TC stock up front, and use the '84 GT assembly on a different car.  Or mix and match them.  I work in a machine shop, but if I can find a 5 lug rotor that will work on these spindles, and use minimal machining to clear a 14" wheel, I'm all for it.  I can redrill the rotors I have, but I don't have 14" wheels readily available to see if they'll fit or not.  Thus the question.  But if 14" wheels work, that will decide which direction I want to go with my '87 TC.  IE: leave the TC stock, and put the '84 GT in another car I have.  BTW, did you use just the spindle, or arms as well?

Stock non=tc rotor's are 10" I thought. I don't see why it would need any machining. I would just get a spindle out of a cougar/bird non turbo, or use one out of a 87-93 non-gt mustang.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Long story short:  if just the '84 stang K-member will allow the '87 control arms, spindles, 11" TC brakes to keep the wheels in the stock location, I'm all for it.  Then I will have the '87 Tbird K-member with '84 control arms,  '84 spindles,  '84 10" brakes  left over in a stang width.  But I think the K-member height won't allow the Tbird K to fit a stang.  However, I plan to use it for something else. ;)  It's this "something else" that will use the 14" steelies if possible in 5 lug.

For the Bird: The downside is I don't have 16" wheels.  I have 15" ten holes on the TC now, and the calipers are off, but I think they'll still fit.  I also have 14" wheels I kept from my old '88 Tbird which fit the 10" rotors, and certainly won't fit the 11" TC brakes.  Unfortunate, since the 14" wheels are the ones still holding air right now.  I got the '84 stang parts so that I could use the K-member, but in looking at the rotors and brakes, I want to keep the 11" TC rotors and maybe upgraded calipers.  I knew the earlier v8 stangs still had 10" rotors, but beggars can't be choosers.  I hope the  '87 control arms fit the '84 stang K, but I thought I read about them being a bit off.

So in doing a 5 lug swap on the '84, I assume the calipers stay in the same location as a 4 lug.  If so, then my question is likely answered since I had 14" wheels on my '88 Tbird.  I thought I'd get a quick response in the form of a yes.  But apparently everyone moves to a bigger wheel, lol.

Your control arms will swap. When the cougar/bird got there own k-member, they changed the width on the control arms.

Did a search with no luck.  But will the 15" ten holes fit the 11" TC brakes up front?

11" TC brakes = 87-93 mustang gt. which came with ten hole wheels. so, yes.

Thanks.  I didn't want to drag the jack and tools out back to find out, lol.  I thought they did, but Fatman Fab. called for 16" or bigger for the '94 and newer Mustangs on a kit they have.

That will depend on the style of rim. I have seen some 15's not clear some brakes with the wrong offsets on chevy stuff. You will need a 16" mini spare at the very least.
