Dashboard out, wires everywhere, car won't start.

This might be more of a rant than a question, but I'll try to keep my sanity.  I had a shop pull the dash from my Cougar almost a YEAR ago, and when I realized they weren't gonna work on it...I pulled the dash and am doing the necessary work while I look for a new job.

Anyway, I'd like to move the car right now, but it won't start without the dash.  The battery was recharged and when I hook it up, the lights come on but the car won't start.  No click, no fuel pump click (I think)...just a whole lot of nothing.  Even the key chime (grabbed from a Mark VII) starts cutting out.

The shop and EVTM manuals are telling me that the dash wiring should have no connection to this problem.

That's the problem, if anyone has any advice, please don't be shy.
