CFI upgrades

my previous post says it all.

burning chips typically points to a couple of goals whenever its brought up.

IE- more fuel based on more air flow.

More fuel- you will end up being able to fill up a gas can directly from the oil pan:D

More air-  gut out or hone things to flow from the valve chamber on up to the cfi.

In short,, just a simple half turn of the fuel pres reg will add a little more fuel you can feel.

I like CFI because its not so integrated into the engine or other components as sefi SD or MAF and its not so co-dependant on other piece parts.

Its a bolt on bolt off type deal , selling point in my book.

Any of the 3.8 guys who have found  a V8 cfi and reinstalled the green top injectors can tell you there is an instant payback on power due to just the air alone up at the CFI.  the runners on the intake however stay the same.  Someone here gutted the little 3.8 runners and put in bigger valves.

Without the full complement of air flow, adding fuel only has its benefit before it becomes a burden till it washes out your bearings cause all the excess fuel is leaking down to the oil pan.

fuel in the oil does mix just fine,, Fuel however doesnt mix with bearings.

I can not confirm if a cfi chip can be burned.  However, mega squirt does offer what you are looking for though.  It was designed around chevy tbi in mind, such as your CFI.  It eliminates the EEC , the O2 sensor signal is the backbone of the systems software though and the whole system is laptop programable.

is CFI like a mustang/t-bird speed density setup where more airflow or cam will cause it to go nuts?
Currently Birdless but never Foxless

can you burn chips for CFI computers?

No.

If you want to go past the learning ability of the EEC (~20%), you need to go with a standalone system such as MegaSquirt.
