A mail order chip for a blower application?  If it were mine, I'd spend the extra having it run on a dyno and a custom tune.  I did a mail order chip on a N/A application, it was a total waste (so it ended up costing me $260 plus $550 for the dyno tune. ouch!).  With a blower there is more at risk than just poor runability.  IMO there are too many variables to just plug in a chip and go.

I am running an SCT chip on my current combination, but did spend the money for the custom dyno tune.  I've got a P600B Procharger on a 306 pushing 12 lbs.  For my piece of mind, the additional money is well worth it.  Popping a head gasket, burning a piston or breaking a block is much pricer than the additional $300 (not to mention the down time).

If you choose a tuner, work with someone who has done similar parts combinations.

+1 on getting it dyno tuned VS a can/mail order tune. Pretty sure you still need to buy a chip though as your EEC type cant be flashed? I would not hesitate to use the SCT product.

Why the urgency? Hasn't the car been done for awhile? Whats it got for a tune now?

Yep spend the money once and be done. Hate to see you have to pull it all apart and fixing stuff. I had a shop burn me a "temporary tune" for my meter and injectors to work properly till I work out some things with the car till I drive it up there for the dyno tune. But with the blower you need the a/f in a safe range under boast or else your looking for trouble

i will get the sct and then dyno it and at the same place add tunes to it. all i needed to know was how well the chip works on a 5.0 car with a blower.

also on a side note anyone using a snow performance intercooler???

and if i get the cougar running right should i get a custom made pulley for $100 and up the boost maybe 2-3 lbs or so.

Meth injection is great. I know several guys that run it. I personally wouldn't use it to replace an IC setup but you can. If anything id use them both.

Really not much need for more than one tune but you can have several with a "switch chip". Say a race fuel tune, a super conservative tune or a race tune etc. I wouldn't run the car much without some sort of tune in it and if you get a can tune to get it to a dyno i wouldn't flog it until it gets a decent dyno tune in it. Not sure how critical it is VS. a car like mine.

Vortech has all different size pulleys. Your stock one should get you like 6 lbs i think. All you need to up the boost is pulley, possibly a belt and a tune.
