the best engine swaps is a HO302, and the LS1.  They both have kits to make them fit.  some kits requre cutting and welding, some dont.  http://www.monstermiata.com sells the ford kit.  it comes with everything you need except IIRC the engine, transmission, and 8.8 IRS rear end.  the kit is the modified k member and stuff like that.  4 grand for that kit.

the ls1 kit is more expensive i think, but its an all aluminum engine and works better about weight distribution.

Im going to make the car safer, handle better, and then i'll probably build a 94+ 1.8l motor.  im thinking boring it out and stroking it to a 2.0l and either going with 4 independent carbs, or going forced induction.

im really really bummed right now b/c i have to get rid of the bird.  i'm going to miss it so bad. :disappoin:(

Your Miata looks great! I've always wanted one myself. And with it being a byproduct of Ford I could have gotten one without getting disowned. LOL!! That sucks about your Bird though. I didn't know they could do that either. Too bad you didn't cover it before anyone noticed it had no tags.

i think it was a neighbor that lives behind us.  on a map they're technically beside us, but thats the only logical way, ANYONE could have seen no tags.  i talked to the local sheriff and he's giving me enough time to make sure its worth selling... at the moment i dont know what the oil is like, may have to do a dino oil change leaving the filter on..  if any windows are off rack i'll need to fix that.. so on and so forth.  they're workin with me on this b/c the cops around here are really residents themselves and they personally dont have a problem with it.. but paperwork is paperwork.

Maybe with them being so cool about it, they'll let you cover it up, it could be worth a shot. They do have an ordinance here as well that if you don't have current tags/paper work on a car they can make you get rid of it. But no one around me seems to care, I've had a couple cars here that I took my time stripping with no trouble from anyone. Neighbors can suck! Luckily I have good ones. The one that shares an alley with me as a driveway is a car guy to, so he's real cool about stuff.

There's a guy (or used to be) that is an aficiando and parts them out in Lawrenceville. His name is Kurt and he's originally from PA, I bought a 96 from him once upon a time. Good to deal with, I'll PM you his email if you're interested. Be careful on that Miata forum, if it's the one I think it is they're a tough crowd and the ATL guys are, shall we say, prominent. :)

the forum im now a part of is actually very good with cool people.  its a lot like this place and thats why i like it.  everyone is on a first name basis, dont cheat you on deals, so on n so forth.  the one you might be refering to is one that i only know as the "IA boys."  those might be who your talkin about.

btw the IA guys were Import Atlanta.. im not apart of that group.

Those fender flares and the wider wheels make it look 350% better than the stock setup. I am envious, I have been thinking about finding a 1-2nd gen RX-7 that has bad apex seals for a swap project since I can fit in those better.

i dunno if i got a RX7 i'd buy a professionally rebuilt twin rotor.  they rebuild them for light aircraft more than they do for cars, but you could send in the one with bad apex seals as a core..  they'll rebuild that one and sell it etc.  but i do agree, a v8 powered.. or even a 2.3t swap would be nuts.

i did notice tho, at the meet, we we're all sort of a "short" bunch lol...  none of us were taller than 6ft i'd estimate.

when we crashed the import atlanta car meet with 9 miatas there were a lot of raised eyebrows rofl..

Yeah, being 6'5" I need to choose my 2 door cars VERY carefully. I look pretty odd climbing out of tiny 2 doors.
