whoever the tbird guru is on here should chime in.  My gut feeling is it was moved,,,,thus the hole in the fender up front was covered,,,,,thus the car may have been painted or atleast a fender.

Hello Allen
I would like to ask you or your team to take a look at the location of the antenna on your 88 Thunderbird for sale currently on Ebay.

From my knowledge base, no Tbird of that era ever configured the hardware, wiring or engineering to place an antenna in that location.  All the 83-88 birds of this ear placed the antenna along the horizontal portion of the passenger fender and approx 12'' forward of the passenger mirror.

Frankly, I like its location and perhaps the car having the miles it does however low, implies there was at best one owner who decided for reasons unknown that the antenna would be a better spot in the rear.  I own these types of cars in this era and what this tells me is that opportunity knocked for someone to have this done.

An opportunity could consist of anything from a whim on the owners’ part or any other situation that made it convenient not excluding a damage of some sort.

The hole for where the antenna was is not easily located from the underside of the fender unless it were removed and I wouldn’t suggest that.  There should be a covering of some sort where the original antenna location was which had no choice but to be filled with a media and painted.

It is probably a good idea on your part just for a dose of cya as insurance that there is not some other story to this car although; I really do not care as it is a wonderful example of its time.  If it is your perception and sales angle to move this product as all original, it would pay to look at this closer.

Scott,

You are correct, it was moved at one time as all of them came with it on the passenger front fender from the factory.

I have to admit though, it doesn't look bad installed on the rear like that.

Thats a clean bird-but I'm sorry that engine bay looks like it has a 128,000 miles. I mean they spent time cleaning the interior and exterior then took these nice pics of the car with a white background. You mean to tell me they're trying to sell this car and they can't spend 10 minutes cleaning under the hood knowing they were going to take a pic of it? Even with my complaining If I was in the market I would like to buy this car-It's just getting harder to see them look this clean.

P.S. I hate where that antenna is!!
