86 Cougar V6 for sale

FOR SALE

86 Cougar in good condition, although she has very high mileage (300K). Located 45 minutes north of Atlanta, GA on I-75.

Extras:
-Power moonroof
-12-speaker Kenwood CD stereo (with 3 Fosgate amps, 2 crossovers, bass enhancement module, professionally installed)
-Towing setup includes Class II hitch, auxiliary transmission fluid cooler, trailer wiring, air shocks on rear.
-Tinted windows (35%) with ventshades

Issues:
-Transmission needs work - sometimes will slip out of gear when the throttle is lifted. There is also a small leak in the transmission somewhere (these are probably related).
-A/C does not work and has not been converted to R134
-Heater core needs to be replaced.
-Needs power door lock actuators (they froze up to I removed them to be able to lock the doors)

There is no body damage or rust, and the interior is in very good condition for a car of this age.  I also have some extra parts to go with the car (dash panel, hardware, extra set of brake rotors, etc.). This would make a great project car for someone who wants to do a 5.0 swap.

Make me an offer.

Is that a factory power moonroof? Do you have more pictures of it?

Power moon roofs for the 86 cougar are almost unheard of!

Hey guys,
Just to comment on an '86 with a power moonroof:  About a month ago I let one get away from me on Ebay that was within driving distance.  It was an '86, LS I think, black, with a SO 5.0, a power moonroof, and vent window doors.  The outside had very little if any rust, no dents, nice looking paint, and nice gray interior.  It closed with no bids, had no reserve, and could have been had for $250.  At the time I didn't have a spare $1 to spend, but a little while after it closed I wrote to the guy and asked if he still had it.  He said he did, and he had put it back for sale on his lot for $950 and had calls on it.  He said, "you should have bid on it".  Just makes me sick.  I'm told that only late '86 models got moonroofs.  And not many had vent windows, I don't think.  I just thought the combination of a 5.0, moonroof, and vents was pretty cool.  Anyway, good luck to you on selling your white car.  Wish I was closer to you, too.

That's a beautiful car.  I never get excited about V6 cars, but man... that'd be a perfect car to put my 2.3T drivetrain into.  Power moonroof!  So shagy it hurts!

Here's how I'll put it:

I've been an enthusiast of Fox Cougars/Thunderbirds since 1998, and I've NEVER seen a pre-'87 Cougar/Thunderbird with a power moonroof in person.

You're close.  It wasn't a factory moonroof but it was dealer-installed (ASC makes it).  It has the hideaway shade that opens automatically when the roof is retracted, tinted glass (matches the windows), and the popup air deflector.  It has not leaked the whole time I've had the car, and the car used to be parked outside for the first 5 years or so that I owned it.  The rest of the time, it has been parked in the garage.  Still works, by the way...just gotta keep it lubricated.  I used to do a lot of driving in my former occupation and nothing beats cruising an open road with the roof open on a warm night, except maybe a convertible.

I can take pictures of it if you like, but I'm thinking you were expecting it to be factory.
