Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I figured with all the fox chassis knowledge here, someone is bound to know something.

This Craigslist add states: “HISTORY: FORD CONTRACTED WITH A DESIGNER NAMED BORGIANELLI TO DESIGN THE SUCCESSOR TO THE AC COBRA.”

This is true, but only in referring to the original one-off Bordinat Cobra. A Ford concept car that was designed by Gene Bordinat who was VP of Design at Ford in the 60’s. The original concept car was built on a 289 Cobra chassis (CSX 3001).

There was a company called Pacific Coast Cobra (no longer in business) that in the early eighties that made Cobra kit car bodies. They were contracted by a guy named Al Kelly to make bodies that were styled after the famous Bordinat Cobra concept car.

The fiberglass body kit was to be combined with a Fox body Mustang. They were made in sometime around 1985 and rumor is that there were 17 of these bodies made. The first car that Mr. Kelly finished was built from a 1981 Mustang and was featured in Kit Car magazine in 1985 and was on eBay a few years ago.

Notice that this car used '85/'86 Thunderbird taillights. :D

So really this car is nothing more than one of many kit cars that were popping up in the 70’s & 80’s but instead of using a VW or Fiero as its donor, it used a Mustang instead.

Here is what the original Bordinat Cobra looked like. (It still survives today).

First thought was the car the SHO motor should have went in but after reading it not so much. With a SHO motor weight distribution would be equal or rear bias even I would think.

I like it. Reminds me of an Avainti a little

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I think the two of us have been tainted by SHOs, now all I think about is wanting to make a rwd SHO swap vehicle (I know Chuck had something going with this, what ever happened?).
